January always seems like a great time of year to start organizing the house. The longer we get stuck indoors from the cold and snow, the more I begin to notice what isn't working around us. I can see clutter and chaos in places that could easily be improved. So many places in fact that I have to limit my projects or my husband would throw a fit at the bill that would come.
I started with the laundry room. I had all these little bags full of little things that kept falling out every time I opened the cupboard door. Honestly it was starting to get annoying. I found these amazing little plastic containers that are quite literally containing the mess. Yay! They are the perfect depth so I can easily shut the door and they are just tall enough to hold everything while still making them accessible.
Of course the kitchen was next because what kitchen couldn't use a little organizational help. I was tired of never being able to put my hands on the tools I use the most when I needed them. I think this is actually supposed to be a pot rack and while it is holding one tiny frying pan, I love it because it puts my favorite things close at hand while cooking.
And I couldn't forget my essential oils. They were becoming a jumbled mess in the pantry. This nail polish rack solved everything. I've got it on the wall in the pantry next to the broom and mop. It's also a good 5 feet off the ground so littles won't be able to access it easily. I love that they are alphabetized now so I can put my hands on the correct oil easily.
While each of these did cost some money, they were all very simple and quick fixes. Have you done any organizing lately?

I love cooking with real food, knitting with good yarn, sleeping in (when the kids let me), staying up late to finish that last chapter, DIY projects, and most of all enjoying life.
