This DIY is going to blow your mind. Not because it's so brilliant (although it kind of is), but because it is so ridiculously simple. Really it is easy and it will save you tons of money too.
These make fabulous gifts to give someone else or just to keep for yourself. I have to constantly keep making these because my daughters are always giving them away to their friends. Also because they occasionally go through the wash. Thanks girls.
So what am I talking about? An all-natural DIY lip balm using essential oils.
I've made several flavors recently but the biggest hits were Peppermint and Citrus. Personally I love the way the peppermint smells and you will find me sniffing it more than I ever wear it. Lol! You could also use lavender which is great for dry, chapped lips.
All Natural Lip Balm
Makes 6-7 lip balms
1/2 oz. Mango butter (Where to buy)
1 tbls. beeswax pellets (Where to buy)
1 1/2. tsp. Castor Oil (Where to buy)
1 1/2 tsp. Sweet Almond Oil (Where to buy)
1 ml. Vitamin E (Where to buy)
6-10 drops of Young Living essential oils (I only recommend using YL oils. Read more here)
You could use Peppermint, Citrus Fresh, or Lavender
Lip Balm Tubes (I got mine from here)
Heat the beeswax in a double boiler (I use a heavy duty glass bowl over a pot of boiling water when I can't find mine). When wax is mostly melted add mango butter and continue to heat slowly until liquid.
Remove from heat. Add castor oil, almond oil and vitamin E. Stir. Add back to heat if necessary.
Stir in essential oil.
Fill lip balm containers and let them cool.
I used these little plastic pipettes to fill the tubes (also to measure out the vitamin E). I’ve heard some people say that they use a pourable glass container for heating their oils and beeswax and then pour directly into the lip balm container. But I wasn’t sure mine would work out so well or if the oils would end up all over the floor. So, I just sucked some up in the pipette and squirted it into the lip balm tube. It worked great! You’ll just need to work quickly, because the mixture tends to cool quicker once it is out of the hot glass bowl.
I used Young Living Essential Oils when I made this recipe! I love the Seed to Seal Guarantee and the process behind distilling their oils. You know that you are getting Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils.

I love cooking with real food, knitting with good yarn, sleeping in (when the kids let me), staying up late to finish that last chapter, DIY projects, and most of all enjoying life.
