Since I reached adulthood I've been trying desperately to recreate the ham my grandmother made every holiday. This ham was the reason I went to holiday gatherings because when you are little who really wants to go hang with the adults and be bored on a day off of school? I would eat an entire plate of this and often nothing else. Unless there was pie. Must have the pie.
I haven't had a lot of luck with the ham until this. While not exactly the same, it is the closest I have come. I know hers was baked in the oven, but I love the convenience of the slow cooker for this.
Brown Sugar Pineapple Ham
2 cups brown sugar, divided
7-8 lb Bone In Spiral Ham
20 oz can pineapple tidbits and juice
Sprinkle 1 cup of the brown sugar in the bottom of your crock pot. Place ham on top of brown sugar. Pour pineapple tidbits over the top of ham. Sprinkle with remaining brown sugar.
Cook on low 8 hours.
Remove ham and slice into serving pieces.
If you would like, you can place the cut slices back into the crock pot so they can all be covered in ham juices before serving. It's even better if you can cook the slices for another 30 minutes on low while prepping the rest of your meal.
Welcome to Homemade Wonders!
I love cooking with real food, knitting with good yarn, sleeping in (when the kids let me), staying up late to finish that last chapter, DIY projects, and most of all enjoying life.
