This veggie dip was my very first make-it-yourself-at-home recipe many years ago.
I grew up liking only one specific brand of dip from the grocery store. It was the only one I wanted to eat and the only one I would ever buy. Sadly I was rather picky back in the day.
Well, one day while shopping for a birthday party/gathering of some kind (I can't remember which now), they were out. I was outraged! How could they be out when I needed it? And of course this was the only store in town that sold it. What to do?
I started going through every single cookbook and cooking magazine I could get my hands on. I had to have a dip and how hard could it be to make one? I have no idea where the original recipe this is based off came from, but this is what I came up with that day and it has been a huge hit at everything gathering since.
Herb Vegetable Dip
1 cup sour cream
1 cup mayo
1 tbls. dried parsley
1 tbls. dried minced onion
1 tsp. seasoned salt
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp. dill weed
5-6 drops hot pepper sauce (optional)
In a bowl, mix together all ingredients. Cover and refrigerate at least 2 hours before serving.
