I love summer and I try to enjoy every second of it I can because we get so little of it. That means being outside as much as possible. There's hiking and biking, picnics, trips to the beach and so many more things to do, but at times those activities can become unpleasant because of summer's one big flaw.....biting bugs.
We just spent a lovely vacation with family and one of the things we did was visit a local state park. Unfortunately we got to the park after it had been raining a few hours. The sun was just starting to emerge and along with it came all sorts of biting insects.
We tried to be vigilant with bug spray and long pants and sleeves, but alas some still made it through to tasty skin. Everyone had at least a few bites from flies and mosquitoes. I even had a particular nasty one right under my ear on the side of my neck.
Thank goodness for my essential oils. I was able to whip together a super easy roll-on to help with the irritation caused by the bug bites. It's amazing and even my skeptical father was singing it's praises.
Bug Bite Relief Roll-On
1 10-ml glass roll-on bottle (where to buy)
Fractionated Coconut Oil (where to buy)
15 drops Purification essential oil (where to buy oils)
15 drops Lavender essential oil
Add the essential oil drops to the roll-on bottle. Fill the rest of the way with the the coconut oil. Add the roller ball and lid. Shake and it's ready to go.
It is that easy to have a DIY bug bite relief roll-on for stings and bites that is kid safe! I love having this safe and non toxic aid for the summer bug bites in our home.
