I love using little sachets in my drawers! They make everything smell wonderful and making your own is so easy. Just a couple scraps of cotton fabric, some rice and your favorite essential oils. These also make great last minute gifts.
Drawer Sachets with Essential Oils
Cotton fabric scraps
Rotary cutter or scissors
Sewing machine with coordinating thread
Favorite essential oils (here is what I use)
Cut two 4-inch squares for every sachet you want to make.
With WRONG sides together, stitch around squares using a 1/2-inch seam allowance. Leave a 1 1/2-inch opening on one side so you can fill it later.
Don't worry about the edges now. We will deal with them later.
For every sachet you will need 1/4 cup rice.
Place the rice in a glass bowl. Add 10-15 drops total of essential oils to the rice. Stir until all rice is covered. Gently spoon rice into sachet opening.
Here are a few of our favorite combos using Young Living oils:
5 drops Eucalyptus Radiata
5 drops Lavender
5 drops Rosemary
10 drops Citrus Fresh
3 drops Peppermint
3 drops Cedarwood
5 drops Bergamot
3 drops Peppermint
Head back to your machine. Push the rice back with your finger and carefully stitch over the opening. Make sure to back stitch the beginning and end of your stitching to hold it tight.
I love my pinking shears and they are perfect to finish this project. Cut around the edges to keep them from fraying and give them a nice decorative look.
Place wherever you feel would benefit from a fresh new smell.
That's it. Enjoy!
